The Social Action Team at Cabinet Office - Paul Nelson, Claire Ridge and Jade Belletty – masterminded a games and cakes event which did scarily well on Halloween, 31 October 2012.

Inspired by colleague, Dot Blackburn, who led the fundraising for Cabinet Office in 2011, Paul’s team and their colleagues succeeded in raising a splendid £282.00.  They had heaps of fun, as Paul describes here:

Arm wrestling & Black Jack - I volunteered to be the main challenger for this event, we charged for each match and by the end of it I was definitely worn out as our colleagues fought tirelessly to raise money. This went down really well in Cabinet as everyone was very keen to participate - even our Deputy Director, Almundena, got involved and won hands down (Literally speaking) in the women’s tournament; she even gave me a go. The winners of the arm wrestling matches received chocolate gold coins - definitely what we would call a sweet incentive.  Black Jack was equally enjoyable; John Williams came out as the winner.

Cake Sale - This went especially well, and was the main earner for our fundraiser thanks to Paola Malvisi, Sophie Catlin, Sophie Chapman, Mia Spreadbury’s Mother, Claire Ridge & Dot Blackburn who took the time out to provide cakes: from Italian chocolate and walnut biscuits and cherry bakewells, to a lifeboat shaped chocolate cake.  Nearly every team in Cabinet bought cakes and biscuits in order to support the cause.

“It was truly a great display and example of team work.  I would like to thank everyone who got involved in the organisation, and supporting the event, and the ones who bought copious amounts of cakes for the cause.”

Well done, Cabinet Office – The Lifeboat Fund sends sincere thanks to you all!
