New partner, the CSIS, gives generously to Appeal

The Lifeboat Fund is delighted to receive such great support for its 2012 Appeal from the Civil Service Insurance Society (CSIS).

When we approached Chief Executive, Kevin Holliday, to ask if the CSIS might promote our Appeal on its website, he wanted to know more about our work.  Hearing of the 2012 Appeal's support to the RNLI's 'roll out' of new improved-safety lifejackets, Kevin consulted his fellow board members with a more substantial contribution in mind...

As well as promoting the charity on its website the CSIS agreed unanimously to pay for kitting out with new lifejackets the entire crew at Sheerness lifeboat station, generously benefitting The Fund’s Appeal by the sum of £4,500!

The Lifeboat Fund liaised with RNLI colleagues to arrange a ‘thank you’ visit to Sheerness - and a trip on the lifeboat for Kevin, his colleagues and their families.  The visit took place on 9 September in glorious sunshine.  An article on the RNLI's website reports on the day.

Kevin has written to thank The Fund and RNLI:  "On behalf of all our CSIS 'crew' can I please say a huge 'thank you' to you for organising such a memorable day with the Sheerness lifeboat team.  They are a wonderful team of people who made us very welcome and were equally modest about their volunteering work. Very humbling."

The Lifeboat Fund sends massive thanks to Kevin and his team for 'getting on board' with such amazing support of our efforts to help ensure the safety of the RNLI's brave volunteers.
