'Marine Week' success at HMRC!

Staff from HM Revenue and Customs Livingston office, near Edinburgh, threw themselves into a whole host of sea-themed fundraising activities during their 'Marine Week' for The Lifeboat Fund.

The ideas for the week came from the local staff charity team and included a virtual 'Walk the Plank' challenge (conducted safely in the office - nobody got wet), raft building (pictured), fancy dress, a raffle and a barbecue.

Two RNLI representatives also visited the office to raise awareness of the vital role of the service - and to carry out that very important job of judging the fancy dress competition! Encouraged by HMRC senior manager and Lifeboat Fund trustee Peter Schild, the week's activities raised a fantastic £500, with the money going to the 2013 Lifeboat Fund Appeal.

Marine Week also had an added benefit, as Diane Sherwood, the Operations Manager who helped organise the event noted: "These activities not only raised lots of money for a great cause but also provided a fantastic way of bringing people together, to have some fun and get to know each other better".
