Lifeboat Fund's 2013 Appeal Announced

In 2013, The Lifeboat Fund plans once more to help pay for crew kit and equipment.  In 2012, the charity was delighted to assist the RNLI with its major 'roll out' of improved-safety lifejackets to all crew members.

Those lifejackets, while vital, are just a part of the safety equipment required when volunteer crew members go on a 'shout'.  Crew safety is a top RNLI priority and we have agreed to cover the full cost of the rest of the kit needed for a male or female crew member at every single lifeboat station in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.  The cost per kit is around £770.  The target for our 2013 appeal is £185,000.

A report on the results of The Fund's 2012 appeal will be posted shortly.  We were delighted to raise the splendid sum of nearly £120,000 from the traditional appeal, and payroll and pension giving.  Appeal leaflets for 2013 will soon be available on the website.  In the meantime, we wanted to share this news about the support we aim to give our beneficiary this year - and the great result of our supporters' activity in 2012.  All the funds raised will be used where the RNLI's need is greatest, to keep crew members safe when facing danger to help those in distress.

Please help us in 'kitting out' some of the bravest volunteers in the business!
