DWP colleagues turn out in force for the cause

In the three years since (and including) 2010  to 2012, colleagues in DWP have raised a fabulous sum, exceeding £74,000, for The Lifeboat Fund.

It’s no surprise that fundraiser-in-chief, Frances Kilner, was awarded MBE “for services to the RNLI” in the 2013 New Year Honours List.    Frances  is also Deputy Chair of The Lifeboat Fund and, with her volunteers – including husband, Paul - runs a massive appeal operation each year embracing all branches and touching many locations in the huge Civil Service Department that is DWP.  These are some of the most committed and passionate supporters of the charity, who blaze quite a trail inspiring other organisations to ‘get the bug’ and support the lifesavers.

The full story of DWP’s 2013 appeal has yet to be told but we know already that e.g. the Peel Park office in Blackpool raised over £650, selling books, cakes, merchandise and running a raffle.  IT Project Supplier Manager, Helen Carr, called it “a great team effort”.

Elsewhere at Tyneview Park, Sophie Haagensen, Business Strategy & Change Assessment, led a team of avid car-washers and raised £303.77 – plus gift aid for every donation.  Another fantastic achievement for the DWP Lifeboat Fund appeal, captured in an ‘action shot’ which they have allowed us to share with Fund supporters – see picture.

Well done to all DWP colleagues who have rallied once more to help save lives at sea!
