ANNOUNCING THE LIFEBOAT FUND’S 2012 APPEAL

After 2011’s successful Appeal - raising the fine sum of £122,000 to help pay for crew training and safety clothing/equipment– the Appeal for 2012 is now getting underway.

2011 proved to be the RNLI’s second busiest year ever - for lifeboat launches; for the time crews spent out at sea; and also for incidents requiring lifeguard assistance.  The Lifeboat Fund’s lifeboats played their part, rescuing more than 140 people, 5 of whom now owe their lives to the brave volunteers who crew these boats.

We are most grateful to all who responded to our 2011 Appeal.  Read about that fundraising year in the "Report and Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2011"

In 2012, The Lifeboat Fund once more is seeking to spread the benefit of its fundraising around the UK.  The RNLI has asked us to pay for:

  • lifeguard training of one person at every RNLI lifeguarded beach in the UK
  • kitting out their crew in the latest safety lifejackets, to help with the current ‘roll out’
  • maintenance at those lifeboat stations where our boats are in service – to keep them in top condition.

Our target for the 2012 Appeal is £150,000.

The 2012 Appeal leaflet, poster and fundraisers' leaflet on the year can be downloaded - to use in and inform your promotions.

Your support is greatly appreciated by The Fund, the crews and the lifeguards!
