The 2011 Appeal Season has Started!

The Chair and Executive Committee of The Lifeboat Fund send very best wishes to all fundraisers across the UK who are planning for their 2011 Appeals!

This earlier article on the website heralded The Lifeboat Fund's 2011 Annual Appeal.  Whenever you are planning to fundraise - on 15th or 16th September, in October, or in the run-up to Christmas (another traditional time for charitable giving) - we hope you do well, and that you and your friends & colleagues have great fun doing it!

Angela Saunders, Fund Secretary, has been in touch with colleagues in many different departments and government/public service bodies about their Appeal plans.

Angela says, "I am hearing about so many activities - from coffee mornings, book stalls, alternative therapy sessions, canteen collections and 'feature' dishes (generally fishy!), competitions, concerts of Sea Shanties, offering the RNLI's attractive "SOS" badges for donations, and much more.  All these are popular, and also do well for the charity.

"Some organisations are donating to The Lifeboat Fund when staff complete their Employee Surveys - fundraising doesn't have to be at all difficult or out of the ordinary to be successful."

If you are looking for more innovative activities, check out this "A to Z Fundraising guide", which may spark some ideas.  Remember that you can set up a JustGiving sponsorship page (link) to make it easy for colleagues to support you.  Or simply encourage them to text their donations on the new JustTextGiving service.

If you'd like help or advice - or would like to publicise you plans - or your achievements - on this website, just contact Angela (secretary@thelifeboatfund.org.uk).

Whatever you do, please enjoy yourselves, knowing you are supporting a truly excellent cause - saving lives at sea!
